Course Fee: US$ 300.00
The Course is open to all full time, part time and volunteer workers.

The Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) is often referred to as the fourth pillar of Marine Safety with SOLAS, MARPOL and STCW. During the training we will look at the background, development, objectives, impact and imple- mentation of the MLC and what role ICMA and it’s workforce played in it and still do.
It will be a “hands on” workshop with focus on accommodation, recreational facilities, food and catering, medical care and welfare protection.

At the end of the course participants know how to use the MLC in their daily work among seafar- ers, how to deal with complaints from seafarers and how to use the ICMA advocacy network.

The cruise ship industry is an ever growing sector of the maritime industry. More and more cruise liners come to our ports and bring big numbers of crews and passengers.

Chaplains and ship visitors face different challenges to the work in the merchant navy sector
We will get an overview on the cruise industry, different stakeholders involved and look at models of crew welfare on board and ashore.

At the end of the course participants have received tools for cruise ship ministry in their own port and methods how to deal with the big numbers of crewmembers.
