SHEafarers Saga

Today is the Intern' Day of the Seafarer, we hereby introduce you to another female sailor whom my colleague Mia Haapakorva met on one of her voyages as a Sailing Chaplain on board of the icebreaker Otso:

51 years old
AB (Able Seaman)
Nationality: Finnish
Taining from 1992-94
Started in the Maritime Industry in 1996.

Why did you choose this profession?
I went to study the field because I liked cruises.

What do you love in your job?
The Versatility.

What was the most dangerous incident on board?
In the second winter, the detachment of the tow was catastrophic.

What do you miss the most on board during a contract?
Long sleep.

The first time we met her we thought: Wow, what a woman! She is very outgoing and positive. She is a hard working person. We discovered her travel spirit. She is an innovative, responsible and adventurous person. She loves the Finnish nature. In her free time she likes taking long walks outdoors.
